I have an installation whereby a fibre link via media converters has been installed to allow 2 no. Com'X510 energy servers to communicate with each other over a distance of 250m.
One Com'X510 is the master and communicates with the clients network (static IP 10.254.1.100 on Port 1) and two Com'X510 slaves (static IP10.25.1.1 on Port 2).
Slave 1 has a static IP of 10.25.1.2 and slave 2 has a static IP of 10.25.1.3 (both connected on Port 2).
The master, slave 2 and the fibre link to slave 1 are all connected to a Netgear 5-port switch.
The master can communicate with slave 2 but cannot communicate with slave 1.
When connecting my laptop to the 5-port switch, this too cannot communicate with slave 1.
However, if I go to the other end of the fibre link and connect my laptop, I can ping and browse the master and slave 2.
I have also tried slave 2 and an EGX300 in place of slave 1 but neither of these can communicate withe the Master or my laptop PC.
Is this a Com'X configuration issue or more likely a fibre link/media converter issue?
Any comments will be appreciated.

Hi,
To me, this sounds like an issue with the fiber link/media converter.
Regards,
Randi
Update:
But, after discussing with a co-worker, he believes that the issue cannot be in the converter. So, to help clarify the situation for us, would you draw a picture of the configuration (I've drawn it from your description but would like to confirm) and attach it to this thread?
Thanks,
Randi

One way to confirm if it is the media converter or not is to run a temporary twisted pair cable between the COMx devices. Technically the length between the devices is over the ethernet segment limit but in practice this should work fine for short periods. Alternatively just bring one of the COMx devices closer to the other for the connectivity test.
