Both the EcoStruxure IT Gateway software installed on a server and the EcoStruxure IT Gateway appliance can be used to monitor devices across multiple network interfaces. This includes incorporating the Gateway into an existing DCE deployment to monitor devices on the DCE private LAN.
Gateway appliance
The Gateway Appliance has dual network ports. It can be used exclusively on the public network connection, or also be connected to a secondary private network.
The Gateway appliance includes DHCP server functionality on the secondary network, similar to the DCE server. There must be only one DHCP source a given network. If you connect the Gateway appliance's secondary network to a network that is already serviced by a DHCP source, be sure to follow the documentation on Managing DHCP on the Gateway appliance to disable the Gateway appliance's DHCP server.
Installed Gateway software
The Gateway can discover equipment connected to any of the network adapters on the system running the Gateway software.
The installed Gateway software does not provide DHCP server functionality. If your private network has no DHCP source, you must install and configure a DHCP server on that subnet.
If you need to add an additional network adapter to a system that is already running the Gateway, you must restart the Gateway software before the new adapter will be recognized by the software.
