Installed Base Capture - SEAL Script
Purpose The Installed Base Capture script collects device information from a connected EBO server (AS, ES, or EC). It supports system audits, inventory tracking, and upgrade planning by extracting structured data from various device types.
What the Script Does When run on an EC, ES, or AS, the script automatically scans the entire server tree and captures data from the following device types:
EC, ES, Automation Server
Central IO
IP Controllers (MP/RP)
MSTP Controllers (MP/RP)
IP-IO
RPC RoomBus Devices
TAC Xenta
TAC Xenta IO
TAC Xenta IO in Xenta
Captured data includes: Name ; Path ; Parent ; SKU ; ModelName ; SerialNumber ; Version This information is written to the Results View and/or a CSV file.
Typical Use Cases
Installed base documentation for upgrade planning
Inventory capture for maintenance or lifecycle analysis
System audits and compliance reporting
Technical Notes – Why Set/Change Permission Is Enabled Although the script only reads data, it needs to temporarily disable Database Mode (SetDatabaseMode(false)) to access live properties such as firmware versions from BACnet controllers. Changing database mode is considered a write-level operation in EBO, which is why set/change permission is required.
Note on EBO Version Requirement The script requires the top-level server (i.e. the EC or ES you connect to and run the script on) to be running EBO version 4.0.3 or higher. However, underlying Automation Servers (AS) do not need to meet this version requirement. The script can still successfully collect data from AS and their connected devices even if they are running older versions.
Safety First Make sure you have approval from the system owner before exporting system information.
Availability The script is available in SEAL Script → Standard Scripts.
