what is meant by "DC bus overvoltage issue" in SRT5kXLI and its solution? As load drops due to this error.

My SRT 5kxli had a issue in which dc bus over voltage is occurred in logs and load dropped. but there was no issue in input voltage frequency or battery voltage or any issue. Kindly tell me the reason and solution. Thanks

Hi Raja,

Please see the following hope this will answer your question.

DC Bus Overvoltage Fault (Hardware,Positive & negative)
DC Bus overvoltage generates a hardware interrupt at 480V.

DC Bus Overvoltage Fault (Firmware,Positive & negative)

The DC bus voltage is sampled in A/D interrupt (4-point running average). If the average DC bus voltage is greater than 460V, the DC bus overvoltage fault will be generated.

Auto Action:

DC Bus Over-voltage Fault will immediately turn-off the Inverter in hardware. The PFC will be turned off upon detection of this fault.

Possibility-1 (Inverter relay is closed)

The Inverter will be commanded off and new state will be set: UPS_FAILURE or FAILURE_BYPASS.           Should UPS transfer to FAILURE_BYPASS, output Relay will be commanded to open and Bypass Relay will be commanded to close immediately.

Possibility-2  (Inverter relay is open😞

UPS will transfer to UPS_FAILURE state at the closest AC line phase angle of 67.5 degrees (or in less than 18msec @50Hz or 15msec @60Hz.)

Display LED State will be  0 1 0 0 0 and this fault is auto recoverable.

BR,

Rana Ajmal

It is not a bug something, this is defect/malfunction of the SRT 5kxli device. Therefore it is better for you to address local techsupport, which carries out service maintenance/repair of similar devices.

I.e., you want to ask: why my device has failed? If you are interested in this question, then you first of all need to address local techsupport of Schneider Electric. Only they can competently answer your question for what reason the device has failed and that it is necessary to make, that it hasn't happened in the future any more.

It is the best of all to ask this question at a APC by Schneider Electric Community. By the way, there already asked similar questions "DC bus overvoltage issue", but there is no answer to them (use the built-in search).

From the long-term experiment of the radio engineer on operation of similar systems I will tell, that you won't achieve definite answer. This is not what you aren't wanted to be answered, and can't just be told precisely for what reason your device failed.

Hi raja.rasheed, I asked tech support and they said the following:

The issue happens because of a spike in the AC or transition within states of the UPS. They should be able to clear the alarm on the display.

If the issue persists, we recommend trying the Brain Dead procedure on the unit. The steps are covered below.

1) Turn off and unplug UPS from wall
2) Disconnect Battery
3) You may hear an audible ""click"" from the UPS.
4) Reconnect battery, plug unit back in the wall, and turn UPS back on

If the alarm reoccurs after restarting the unit, then they should contact their local Technical Support for this.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Stine
