server update error unable to upload the update

Hi,

I am trying to update from 7.4.1 to 7.4.3 but the update fails with a message saying unable to upload the server update.

Any ideas?  I have tried rebooting the vm, redownloading the update but it still fails.

Thanks

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Your DCE client is trying to push the files to the server. It is not likely that the server itself is blocking it so it is likely the client, network, or VM host that is blocking it. I would suggest turning off any firewalls on the local machine. You may also want to try another client machine, preferably one on the same LAN as the DCE server. Finally, you may want to check to see if there's anything that may be blocking it on the VM host side of things.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks for the quick response Steve, do you know what ports are required to push the update?  our security team aren't going to let me disable firewalls in production.

it doesn't fail right away, the progress bar gets about halfway along before it bombs out.

As spezialist noted, you may want to double check the repository and verify you have enough space.

The port is just http / https, whatever you're using.

Something else that spezialist's post brings to mind is since this is a VM, make sure you have not tried to increase the default drive size. You have to add a second drive to increase capacity. I wouldn't usually expect this to be the issue as it usually starts the install but fails to reboot if this is the issue but it's worth looking into.

I found a windows host on the same network, trying to get permission from its owner to abuse his vm to update mine.

Dear Patrick English,

This is good, because to start the DCE upgrade process, it is important that you have free space on the local DCE server store. From your comments everything looks good...

Please, check the CRC32 or SHA256 of the update zip-file - this is important. You have successfully unpacked it on a PC?

With respect.

Sorry, does MD5 checksum of your zip-file match with the MD5 checksum published on the DCE-7.4.3 download web-page?

With respect.

I installed the client on a windows vm in the same network as the DCE management server, the install went through perfectly.

Thanks for your help guys.

Repository (doesn't matter how many drives) should only show 1 local repository no? Check the VM host for the number and size or drives. If you've increased the default, shut the VM down, put it back to 18, then add a second drive.
