"Location" of devices in a SxOn mobile app is displayed differently?

Hi all!

I found a bug in a SxOn mobile app (not important Android or iOS) at the "Location" display of different devices with different placement. For example, in DCE-7.4.2 I have such structure of a tree:

My_SxOn_account +-> Site_1 +-> Group_1 +-> Device_1 | | |-> Device_2 | | |-> Device_3 | | -> Group_2 +-> Device_4 | |-> Device_5 | |-> Device_6 +-> Site_2 +-> Group_3 +-> Device_7 | |-> Device_8 | |-> Device_9 | -> Group_4 +-> Device_10 |-> Device_11 |-> Device_12

And, for example, in a SxOn mobile app for the unclear reasons for the Device_1 "Location" = Site_1. And for the Device_7 "Location" = Group_3. Why such difference, in what a problem? I thought, that "Location" has to contain or Site_1 or Site_2 only, or a full path, i.e. Site_1 -> Group_1 ->...

Very thanks for the support.

P.S.: I wanted to report about this bug on support@struxureon.com, and having opened support ticket on http://sxwhelpcenter.ecostruxureit.com/requestsupport/login.action. But unfortunately in reply received only short "Unsupported Region. Closing ticket". Very much it is a pity, I didn't demand technical support at all but to report a bug...

Hi spezialist,

The "Location" field for a device in the app is set to the label of its group. If it doesn't belong to a group, the root group is used as group. Note that this only applies for StruxureOn when connected via a DCE.

So in your example, the location of "Device_1" should be "Group_1" and the location of "Device_7" should be "Group_3". You seem to confirm that the latter is the case but that there is an issue with the former.

I cannot investigate further without knowing the exact names of "Device_1", "Group_1", and "Site_1". If you don't want to share that information here, you can send it to me via the support ticket that you also created.

Best regards,

Martin

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the useful answer to my address.

All of you truly understand, also that my SxOn is connected to DCE-7.4.2.

I will send all specifying information by mail in the form of the response to my request 7865123. Here I can only tell that names of groups and the sites (not devices name) at me are written in DCE-7.4.2 by Cyrillics. But unless it can be a problem?

Very thanks for the support.

Hi spezialist,

I have received your files.

For you UPS, the "Location" field seems to be correct. It is identical to the group label of the device in the DCE.

However, for your three other devices, I can see that the "Location" field seems to be incorrect. I don't know the cause of this but I have created an internal bug report on this where I have used your screenshots to demonstrate the issue.

I cannot promise you anything with regards to when this will be looked into and hopefully fixed. I should note that there are plans to redesign the device groups concept and, hence, resources may be spent on that instead of fixing bugs in the old concept.

Thank you for reporting the issue.

Best regards,

Martin
