I have some RPDU in the dc and will change from Snmp v1 to Snmp v3 without deleting the device in the dce system.

Hi Richard
We do recommend re-discovering the device. If you do not wish to do this, there is a KBase FA225529, that explains how this can be achieved.
The link to the KBase is below:

Richard,
I have asked this in the past, and the answer is no. You have to delete the SNMP v1 device and re-discover it in SNMP V3. You will lose all the history, trends, etc.
The KBase article talks about alarm notification policies and it would make sense that those would need to be recreated as well.
Regards.

The process of doing this is documented in the following K-Base: FA158442
http://www.apc.com/site/support/us/en/faq/
This procedure fails on 6.3.3 firmware unless you do not use an authentication protocol or encryption algorithm. Will this be fixed for the 6.x firmware in the new version of DCE?

I tried following the FA158442 procedure and it didn't work.
It allows me to use the SNMP configuration to enable SNMP v3 on the device but nothing tells DCE to start using v3 instead of v1.
Please elaborate on how DCE can switch from V1 to V3 when scanning a device so I do not have to delete the device and re-add it and lose all the history of that device.
Regards,
J
