Why isn't AR8136 in the genome file ? Why aren't all APC products in the genome file ?

We would all like to know why the master genome is not managed more aggressively. Or completely. The standard solution is to find a similar item, make a copy of it, change the name and any configurations specific to your equipment. You could contact your rep directly.

Hi Eric,
Within a rack, any U-space that dose not have any equipment is considered to have a blanking panel (AR8136). That's why there is no blanking panels in the Genome Library. This should also be considered as a user-friendly feature, so you/user do not need to add thousand and thousands (depending on the size of the setup) blanking panels to unused U positions.
We are currently adding more and more devices to the genome library, however you can make ddf and genome requests on the following Device Support site:
http://sxwhelpcenter.ecostruxureit.com/devices
hope this helps,
Kind regards

ok - thank you, that is good to know. I do realize that calculating free space would take some additional logic if I used blank panels, not much - you'd just have to say "AR8136=free space" - but its easier the way you're doing it.
It does not change the fact that the genome file currently contains the opposite ratio of APC equipment to what it should - 20/80 rather than 80/20 - The level of detail in your own equipment is ....lacking - like 3 phase power strips - just because they aren't outlet metered, doesn't mean you shouldn't have the phases mapped to outlets so that I can map it to that level - you make the stuff - its a matter of saying, "hey fred, can I have the solid works files for xyz?" - slightly more complicated - but this is an OLD product and the genome file looks to be the minimum that you have been able to get away with. No customer should ever have to make any changes to any Schneider/APC equipment when using Schneider/APC Struxureware in order to use an object in the genome - it should be there. If its eaton or something - thats a different discussion.
How do I model gaps then?
Those places where someone installed equipment in such a way that it forces open spaces that will allow free mixing of air through that 1, 2, or whatever U space?

Jef Faridi,
Any indication on other APC/Schneider genome updates? Do we need to request each individually?

Hi John,
Currently genome updates would be included in DCO latest release.
Kind regards

One of the selling points of buying from a major manufacturer like Schneider/APC is that they are a major manufacturer - thus support for/from that manufacturer.
Yet this DCIM tool doesn't include the manufacturer's equipment in its own object file.
Its just a matter of saying "hey fred, can I get the solid works files for....?" - I'm sure its slightly more complicated than that, but not much, they've had this tool for more than 8 years -
As a customer of Schneider/APC equipment as well as the DCIM - my opinion is that the customer should not have to make changes, comments, or requests to have Schneider/APC equipment added when using Schneider/APC DCIM software (Struxureware) - unless they have customized the equipment in question.
Additionally, the level of detail in the equipment that is provided is often insufficient - like 3 phase monitored PDUs - that don't have the outlets broken out - so I can't map my equipment to the outlets, why not?
I can't really expect them to try too hard to get other vendor's equipment. But it is completely reasonable to expect at least 80% of their own equipment to be populated with full detail.
Missing Equipment examples
pdpm288g6h - modular pdu
pdpm150g6f - modular pdu
ar7751 - cabinet chimney - how do you model air flow without this or a cabinet object that includes it ? - as far as I can tell, none of these are present, type "AR7" into the search of the genome and nothing comes up
netbotz - I only see 1 device - not the most popular product line anymore but I think they sell more than that
I could go on,

Hi,
Thank you for the feedback regarding genomes,
We are aware the coverage of devices/products/assets including Schneider Electric related products is not as expected.
We are working on improving this and bring the coverage to a higher and more current state. We are working towards a more automated data gathering solution which would focus on the most popular vendors/manufactures in the various product categories. This is done in order to ensure new products are faster added to the genome catalog. Currently this is an ongoing effort.
It is possible to request individual specific genomes using the device support section.
