Sean,
Good afternoon, Data Center Operations allows users locally cache specific rooms independent of other rooms. Each room you have open will have a separate tab in the window to the right of the Navigation Tab.
When you ran the query above DCO searched across all of the rooms and the assets in light gray represent assets in a room which isn't locally cached. You can right click on one of the assets from the search (e.g. H-5 from above) and select 'Show in Layout'. DCO will then locally cache the room in which that device resides and all assets in the newly cached room should switch from gray to black. Hope this helps

In addition to what Jonathan writes, items marked with pending changes (StruxureWare Data Center Operation: Change feature) also appear in light gray in the Equipment Browser. http://dcimsupport.apc.com/display/UAOp74/Working+with+the+Equipment+Browser
