Unusual data upload to internet from DCO/DCE servers

Dear Support,

We observed unusual data upload on the server hosting the DCO/DCE virtual servers.

This caused several flaps observed on the monitored equipment and other virtual machines hosted on the same physical server. After investigation by our IP team it was observed that there were public facing IP addresses configured the servers. The public IP addresses were removed to resolve the unusual upload.

My question are:

  1. What are the implication/consequences of the change mad ?
  2. What are the implication/consequences of the unusual data upload?

Hi Adekunle,

Assuming no virus (or similar) related issues, I was wondering perhaps it might have/had to do with the "Customer Experience Program" settings in DCO/DCE. The Customer Experience Program can be disabled if you wish (in the following illustrations it is enabled):

In DCO, desktop client go to Tools > Preferences > General

In DCO, web-client go to My Account

In DCE, desktop client go to File > Client Preferences > Customer Experience Program

Kind regards

Hi Adekunle,

Would it be possible to add more details? Apparently seems to be sort of network related,

and for the question 1, I think you won't be able to access your DCO/DCE outside of your network (if it should have been possible before).

and for the question 2, I think we might need to know what sort of data being uploaded (from or to DCO/DCE)?

Kind regards

Thanks Fej, for your prompt response.

I am not sure what kind of data that could have been uploaded.

I am just worried if for example all DCO/DCE data, license information, etc were "stolen", so what risks do i have and how can i reduce such risk(s).

Hi Adekunle,

Sorry for the delay, but I'm not sure how I can help you out. As far as I know, we do not upload data from DCO/DCE to Internet.

Kind regards
