Thumbnail issue with DCE 7.2x and NetBotz 5xx

This question was originally posted on DCIM Support by Nitin Nand on 2016-01-12

Hi All.NetBotz 550 with the new IP in DCE.png

In need of assistances with DCE and the NetBotz Rack Monitor Camera Pods.

I have an issue where I have change the network from 10.x.x.x to 192.x.x.x. Once we re-IP the endpoints DCE and the NetBotz appliances are up, but the Thumbnail view in the DCE surveillance tab doesn't detect any camera, the device view in DCE shows the camera pods listed under the NetBotz.

Subnet: changed from 10.0.0.0/24 to 192.168.0.0/24

NetBotz Rack Monitor 550 on 4.4.1

DCE on 7.2.7

From troubleshooting the issue, it seems to me that once the Camera Pod is added into DCE and then if the NetBotz IP changes,  DCE is ware of the NetBotz ip change but still references the Camera Pod using the previous hostname/ip address.

-I have upgrade the firmware on the NetBotz from 3.1 to 4.x,

-physically reset the netbotz

-tried using a different camera

Thx.

~Nit

Hi Nitan,

Did you remove and re-add the NetBotz appliance from the DCE server?

Is the DCE server a hardware server or VM? If VM , how many NICs?

You stated you changed the IP from a 10.10 to a 192.168 address. Is that the public or private LAN?

If you changed the public LAN to 192.168, is the private LAN still set to 192.168? If so, that needs to be changed. Public and private should be set to different IP schemes.

Hi Steve. Yep.. the netbotz was removed and added back into the DCE server. the DCE is a OVA instance with a single NIC. Public LAN IP was changed to the 192.168.x.x range as well. I replicated the situation using a physical DCE server and the thumbnail survliance tab shows the camera.. soo. perhaps its something too do with the VM. I could delete the NIC and recreated it on the VMWare or generate a new MAC address to see if that helps to flush the pervious TCP settings. Re. Niti

Hi Nitin, You may also want to add a free 5-node version to this same VM host. Add it there. If that works, you can also rule out it being something in the VM host blocking it and you'd be narrowing it down to the specific instance of DCE VM. Steve
