Hi Eddie,
In most cases, communications loss is not due to a DDF. There are instances where a device may not communicate properly the way we poll it (some times we poll more registers than the device wants to output at one time) but if you are running into that issue, it's likely not an intermittent issue but rather a constant one. Usually DDF issues show themselves in how data is either formatted or if specific data points do not exist at all.
If you're getting intermittent communications issues, it may be that you've got more slave devices than the master or gateway can handle regularly or there may also be network latencies that cause comm losses.
Getting the most up to date DDF of course can't hurt and hopefully someone on that team can provide it for you but my suggestion would be to focus on troubleshooting what may cause such comm issues on the network or string of devices.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yesterday communications were lost and regained a couple of times with Struxureware but then they lost it and have yet to come back. We have not added any new slaves to these devices so don't think the number of slaves are an issue as they have been in production for a very long time. This problem also occurred on different power meters which are located at different sites at the same time.

Hi Eddie,
If it's happening to multiple devices at the same time, I'd suggest looking at the DCE resources. One thing that will change is DCE's hard drive space. Make sure you're not at a high percentage of used space. Additionally, if this is a VM, you may want to look into RAM, number of processors etc. I know these things don't change by themselves but in a VM environment they can be shared resources.
You may also want to reboot the server if the devices are going off-line and not coming back especially if you can poll them outside the DCE environment and get data back.
If you want to get into more indepth troubleshooting, you may want to contact tech support directly as using this forum may end up getting a little slow.

Rebooting the server seemed to have fixed the issue. Thanks for your assistance!

Great, you may want to look into upgrading to 7.4.3 as well. Contact support if this becomes a constant thing too. Steve.
