Redundant envoirnment

Jef Faridi Hello jef

As discussed with you on conference we need to submit a secure plan to the customer for our existing DCO environment. They are more focused now because of the recent crash issue that happened

I've already attached the flow diagram to have a clear picture what exactly is needed

Customer has its own virtual environment where we can create 2 virtual machines one will be active and the other standby (redundant) if one VM goes down we can use the other one.

And the db will be in another Database Environment

So please we need a clear picture on it asap because customer is pushing us to submit the Plan

Thanks and kind regards

Hi Waseem,

Many thanks for the nice description.  I think the supported option (from DCO side) could be to setup a Disaster recovery node. As described in the following page:

Disaster recovery

you can configure an up-to-date backup recovery server in a remote location (or on another VMware machine in the same data center) for resuming operation in the event of a disaster.

Another option, as Chris mentioned, might be using the VM's redundancy features - however this is something you might need to consult your VM provider/administrator.

Kind regards

Just a suggestion, why not use the VM's redundancy or its disaster recovery solution instead?

Example VMware has both High Availability / Fault Tolerant as well as disaster recovery solution at VM level. As redundancy is done at VM level, you do not need to have a common DB between the 2 VM, as all taken care by VMware,

Similar redundancy option is available in Hyper- V.

https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.5/com.vmware.vsphere.avail.doc/GUID-63F459B7-8884-4818-8...

FT is stated as continuous availability, whereas HA is position as rapid recovery(few seconds of down time).

I would suggest getting VMware or your VM provider  in your country to review the requirements against the proposed DCO VM specs, e.g CPU, RAM, HDD & the need for static mac address.

DCO VM specs may not be suitable for VMware FT, but should be fine for VMware HA.

Hi Waseem,

You are welcome.

Yes, for Disaster recovery you would need High Availability license installed.

Kind regards
