Hello,

You will be limited to 5 device nodes if you are using the virtual machine trial of StruxureWare Data Center Expert.  The licensing page will display a 25 node license, but it will be limited to 5 nodes.  When trying to add more nodes than that an error message will appear with a warning about licensing.

Knowledge Base: Trial version of StruxureWare Data Center Expert VM appears to have 25 nodes available.

http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA176217/

If you are looking to expand beyond the 5 node limitation, you will need to purchase a StruxureWare Data Center Expert Virtual Machine Activation Key (AP94VMACT OR SFDCEVMACT-DIGI) first.  This will unlock the full base 25 nodes and also allow additional device node licensing to be added to the system, if necessary.

Please keep in mind if you are purchasing additional licensing, to also purchase software support for that licensing to ensure that you are able to receive upgrades and technical support/escalation.

If this does not answer your question, please provide additional details:

  • Physical or Virtual StruxureWare Data Center Expert server?
  • Screen capture: Data Center Expert Desktop Client > System > Server Administration Settings > License Keys.

Best Regards,

Cory

google translate:

" Despite a 25 node license pack I am unable to add nodes while I have only 5 node assets "

Wondering perhaps additional "StruxureWare Data Center Expert Virtual Machine Pack" license key might also be needed? (if DCE is running on a virtual environment) and/or perhaps "DCE user" doesn't have enough privileges to add devices (in DCE)?

DCE experts, please feel free to answer.

Kind regards

Hello,

That is the default license on the system, and per my answer listed above, will be restricted to 5 nodes until a virtual machine activation key is added onto the system.  If this was not purchased, please work through your sales channel to purchase.

Best Regards,

Cory

Informatique IPS2,

Have you added the activation license? If not, you can not add node licenses.

Can you expand that first column?I can't quite make out the bottom key but I'm going to assume that is the activation key and your server is now activated. I also noticed that in this latest screenshot, your server is using 7 of the 25 nodes now and not just 5.

Hi Informatique IPS2,

I'm assuming you have the trial version of the DCE VM. If that is the case and if you have not yet added the activation license key, you only get 5 nodes. This is mentioned in k-base FA176217.

Thanks,

Steve
