Powerchute integration with DCE

Hi,

I would like to check whether we can integrate Powerchute Business Edition with Struxureware DCE. The idea is to bring UPS from 1 to 3 kva also under DCE Monitoring domain. I have heard that Powerchute has snmp v1/v2/v3 OUT CAPABILITIES and also offers MIB file.  I feel in that case we can easily integrate the same into DCE using a custom DDF?

Anyone who has tried that before or any snapshots will be appreciated!

Hello Vineet

PowerChute Business Edition Agent for Windows can pass information to  Windows SNMP Service.

This will allow you to monitor these Agents (UPS-s) in DCE - you do not need any DDF for this, it is already included in DCE. You need to make sure Windows SNMP Service is setup correctly see following link:

Hi Vineet,

Had the same ideas before, exactly on what you are trying to attempt.

It was not realized though, so I can't comment on the outcome.

Personally, I prefer via NMC.

Regards,

Chris

I'll email you my test with PCBE and drawing separately.

Can I get it today itself as it is urgent for a Tender and will decide whether we should go ahead with this architecture or not... Also when it comes to 1 KVA ranging till 6 KVA do all of them have the same NMC cards which can be pulled directly over DCE? If not then how will we pull these UPS on DCE we have to go through Powerchute channel , what do you say?

Check your email? I just sent after posting 🙂 From what I know, any UPS 5KVA onwards has NMC, but I heard newer models like SURTA comes with NMC built in, so do check your UPS model & NMC locally. Regards, Chris

Hi guys, Just an FYI, there is no problem adding a PCBE agent to DCE. You need to configure SNMP first, then install the agent, then monitor with DCE. One major caveat however is that there are no essential alerts. This means there are no pre-configured thresholds and you must manually create any threshold such as on-battery or bad battery. Steve

Hi Vineet,

I shared the idea, because of the broad user base of PCBE here.

I attached some screen shots what sensors can be collected by DCE7.2.7 from PCBE v9.1.1 on Windows 2012R2 with Smart UPS 1200.

best regards,

Yoshi

You can change "Device Type" in DCE from "Server/Workstation" to "UPS" if you want, but you cannot change "Model." It will be collected from the local Server OID. Serial Number seems to be the serial of Smart UPS 1200.
