Hi
we had problems with MODBUS devices tagging in email alarms an reports(generators and power metters, maybe another type soon). The support community have already give us an option to workarund this, but I think is not the best one, I hope in future updates this can be solved in a simpler way.
Here is the question: it is possible to develop a functional Power Logic PM8000 DDF using SNMP format?, with all the data and device alarms?

Hi Sergio,
I don't have one of these specifically but if the PM8000 supports SNMP natively, we can indeed create an SNMP DDF for it. You'd want to put in a request for it on the device support page and provide them with the SNMP MIB and an SNMP walk of the device. If it doesn't support SNMP natively, you'd need to use some sort of modbus to SNMP gateway and since that's still using modbus, It would not resolve your issues as the device itself would not be reporting anything differently than it does with modbus..

Great! Hope it helps. I'm not 100% sure what info will be available as a "tag" for you but you may indeed get better info...especially if you're using DNS names.

PM8000 in DCE via SNMP, courtesy of Kevin Kolobe
Do put a request in http://sxwhelpcenter.ecostruxureit.com/devices
, and specifically ask for PM8000 DDF via SNMP.
We have also feedback to DCE DDF team to update the said DDF so the power reading can be seen in DCO for power capacity.

I agree, I would like PM8000 and ION7650 SNMP support to bring the data into DCE and also into DCO more easily.
I tried using the ETL tool to get PME data into DCO but I can not seem to get it to work. I would rather utilize another node in DCE then try to fight ETL/Webmin, etc.
I have put in requests in Device Support for these as well.
Regards,
J
