Power Capacity And Estimated Load For Multiple Breakers In One Rack

Is there a way to display the capacity limit for a rack which has multiple breakers on either or both the A and B feed?  Currently the tool tip bundles all the A (or B) supplies together into the one graph on the rack.

If you hover over the individual power strip it only displays the live reading and not the estimated load.

Is there anyway to view the estimated load for an individual breaker supplying a rack?  I would envision either four graphs, with the same data as shown at the moment for each on the rack view (if there was two breaks for both A and B) or a grey estimated load on the power strip tool tip.  Then the failover can be calculated depending on which other breaker a device is connected to

Hi James,

There is an option to turn on what is known as the Advanced Power tooltip

Power Tool Tip Troubleshooting

This will show the individual phases at rack level.

Søren,

With the Advanced Power on it still shows similar information as the two breakers are on the same phase.  It still misses the estimated load.

Hi James, I'm not sure I understand what is meant by two breakers on the same phase. Is the rack supplied with 4 rmpdus each with its own breaker and divided into 2 being A-feed and 2 being B-feed? Currently the option above is what we are displaying by default. Once I fully understand the need a feature request might be needed to see the wanted data in the client. /Søren

Søren, Apologies for not being clearer. The scenario is as you described, the rack is supplied with 4 rmpdus each with its own breaker and divided into 2 being A-feed and 2 being B-feed

James Thank you very much for your feedback. As you have discovered it is not currently possible to see the details you require. The good news is that we are reworking the capacity module at the present moment and in version 8.0 we will release an improved power overlay as well as improved tool tips. In your scenario you would still see the A and the B feed on the rack. This is due to space constrains on the rack it self. The tool tip on the rack will contain the same information but with more details - lastly the tool tip on the rack mount PDU's will contain both estimated load as well as measured load broken down per phase. If there is any potential fail over load on the rack PDU it will also be shown. With those changes we aim at being able to provide full insight into how the power is calculated - hopefully this will make it easier for you to understand/troubleshoot power connections. Please let me know if you have additional input - and we will do our best to incorporate it into the new design. /Anders

Anders Thorbjørn Jensen Thanks for the insight into the future development, the estimated load on each rack mount power strip is a good idea. Two other things I would mention about the power strips is the ability to connect to a specific socket number not just a strip (exact same principle as connecting a cable on two patch panels to a specific port number). If this was available it would remove my second point which is to be only able to connect the number of power cables corresponding to the number of power sockets on the strip. Currently you can have a negative number in the Available Power Outlets field.

James We are aware of the request to track specific outlets on the rack PDUs. We will get to that as soon as we have reworked the capacity module.
