PUE in DCO

Hi

I am installing and configuring DCIM and have following question:

  • I can measured kw and Kwh from power-meter with Modbus.  Is it possible use the Kwh in DCO for measure  the PUE?

  • Can I acces to historial of PUE configured in Analytics>PUE/DCiE Dashboard?

  • Is load of system auxiliar of DCO enabled?

Thanks you

Norberto Castillo

Hi Norberto Castillo, thanks for posting! Let's see who can help you.

In the mean time, did you see this video tutorial on PUE/DCiE dashboard How to setup PUE or DCiE dashboard?

Cheers,

Stine

Dear Norberto,

Here are my answers to your queries. I also let other community experts to comment.

I can measured kw and Kwh from power-meter with Modbus.  Is it possible use the Kwh in DCO for measure  the PUE?

As far as I know, you will need either Kilo Watts or Watts values to calculate the PUE in DCO. KWh can not be used to calculate the PUE. Simple PUE calculation is based on Watts Value as far as I know. If you have the value in KW, then use the multiplier of 1000 to convert in Watts Value.

If you are integrating the DCE Measured Values for IT Load and Facility Load from the devices, then the DDF file creation note should be mentioned that the DDF should allow you to view the sensors values in DCO from DCE software. APC Make PDUs nad UPSs have already got DDF that can show  the Power Measurements values in DCO properly. DCO uses the standard web services to query DCE for device and sensor related data. The following page describes the various areas of the interface used by DCO:

https://dcimsupport.apc.com/display/public/DCIMDEVELOPER/DCE+Sensor+Mapping+to+DCO

Can I acces to historial of PUE configured in Analytics>PUE/DCiE Dashboard?

PUE configuration's historical view trend can not be seen in PUE calculation without Energy Efficiency license.  However, you can view the PUE dashboard under DCO Web interface–>PUE Dashboard as shown below without EE license.

DCO Energy Efficiency License module provides the following features:

  • Provides current and historical PUE/DCiE values based on the current IT-load for a fact-based understanding of energy efficiency at the facility level.
  • Provides insight into energy losses and cost of energy at subsystem level, providing details of which subsystem draws the most costs.
  • Utilizes measured or modelled data, allowing for usage with few or no power meters.

For More info: https://dcimsupport.apc.com/display/public/UADCO8x/StruxureWare+Data+Center+Operation%3A+Energy+Effi...

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Bala
