PDU AP7911B Total Power kVA

I am trying to configure the energy system for one of our locations and am getting an error when I evaluate the script (class java.lang.RuntimeException).  I know it has to do with the specific calculation that I have in the script that I use for the other locations.  We usually use OUTPUT_POWER_TOTAL in the IT Load script but that was for the PDU model AP8941.  This location has different PDUs due to the rack size that we haven't used before.  The PDU model AP7911B doesn't have that specific sensor listed in the sensors.  I also noticed that I can't create a virtual sensor in the DCE (Total Power kVA) for the new PDUs  that we have created for the AP8941 PDUs.

Does the AP7911B PDU not have the ability to track Total Power kVA like the AP8941?

The ddf calculates the total kw sensor from the Pdus amperage and output voltage.  All you need is an updated apcpower ddf to get a total kw sensor for the B series pdus.   An updated ddf should be included in the latest DCE 7.6 release or you can get it from device support downloads.

I updated the DCE to 7.6 and also updated the PDU firmware and I still don't have the kVA sensor.  Any suggestions?

What version of the apcpower ddf do you have?  You can find it in Device–>snmp device comm settings–>device definition files.  The updated version should be v50 or above.  What sensors show up after updating to 7.6.0?  Still just current or are you also seeing total power and other sensors as well?

When I last made my ddf request, I only asked for total power kW, not kVA, so I do not recall if that sensor was also added.

If it is updated to V50 or higher and you're seeing more than just current, I would open up a request with our DDF team via the device support link http://sxwhelpcenter.ecostruxureit.com/devices

The APC PDU ddf is version 50.  I will open a request with the DDF team.  Thanks for your help!

I did an snmp walk on both PDU models and the results for AP8941 had about 600 more MIBs than AP7911B.  I noticed when I downloaded the latest firmware there is also a link for PowerNet MIB v4.2.8.  Is this just the latest MIBs for the PDUs?  Do you think that may solve my issue?

the AP89xx is the 2nd gen pdu with a 2nd gen network card vs the AP79XXB is 1st gen pdu with a 2nd gen network card.  The AP88xx pdus have more sensors in general than the AP79xx and use a newer section of the powernet mib.

It would take a firmware and potentially hardware change to get the pdu to use the newer oids, however that is separate from the issue you have.

The DDF file interprets the snmp oids into human readable sensor values for DCE to use.  In some instances, the ddf also calculates values eg Total Power kW.

Back to one of my original ?s, if you right click the rpdu in DCE, click view device sensors, do you see more than just current sensors?  The updated ddf should show W, VA, and total power output.

If still only see current, you can try removing/re-adding one of the rpdus to see if it detects the new sensors or reach out to the ddf team to look at the ddf.

Yes, I see more than just current.  I show W, VA, and total power output.  I appreciate the information that you provided.
