On behalf of Juan:
Hello community, this is to consult you on the following point. I currently have an AP9470 physical DCE, with 200 licenses + 25 licenses for a total of 225 activated on 03/20/2013. the version I own is 7.0.0 and I want to make the following improvements. Migrate to a virtual machine and additionally update the version to the latest version 7.5.0, so I require your support to achieve this configuration.
Thank you

Answer from spezialist:
Dear Juan Barrios,
Your task must be completed in several stages.
First you need migrate from phisical to virtual appliance (see for example topic Physical DCE AP9470 to VM ). For this you need purchase the activation key for the virtual appliance (see for example topic Upgrading a StruxureWare Data Center Expert virtual appliance demo version to production).
Secondly, you need to perform a lengthy upgrade process from an older version of ISX Central 7.0.0 to the latest version of DCE 7.5.0. To do this, you must contact your local Technical Support and verify you have a valid software support contract to receive all the necessary versions DCE-update files for a sequential upgrade using the algorithm:
7.0.0 > 7.2.0 > 7.2.1 > 7.2.2 > 7.2.4 > 7.2.5 > 7.2.6 > 7.2.7 > 7.3.1 > 7.4.3 > 7.5.0
The main thing, do not forget before every upgrade step to make a full backup of your virtual appliance. So you will protect yourself from problems and mistakes in the future.
If you have any further questions, please ask.
With respect.

Add on comment:
Set DCE VM Mac address as static, before switching on the VM.
This is to ensure the DCE VM Mac address does not change when moved, vmotion etc.
Could not agree more on the good practice of backup.
Also since they are moving to VM, they can also consider DCE VM snaphot (which is not a backup by itself), and usual VM backup best practices.
