Hi all,
My customer is currently using Infrastruxture Central version 6.0.1.8 with an appliance. He wants to upgrade to the latest version. Is it possible? What is the best way to upgrade the system? Can he keep using the old hardware with the new upgraded software?
Thanks

Yes, you can upgrade DCE to latest version on old hardware. there is two way to upgrade the same server on latest version.
1) Need to download the upgrade files from 6.0.2 to 7.2.7 and run one by one. (recommended way)
2) Make a bootable USB key with 7.2.7 restore file and put into your DEC server.
if you don't have upgrade files then you need to contact with your local Schneider office.

Rana

Hi Kaan!
Yes, its possible to upgrade DCE to latest version on old hardware. But keep in mind that in old version Operations was located on the DCE server and you need to move it on dedicated server prior upgrade in case your customer use Operations.
It's needed to have active software support contract.
Best way to upgrade depends of solution size and customer requirements for data safety.
If your customer needs to save all data, you need to upgrade versions one by one. If it's not and solution is not so big, you can restore latest version from USB and configure it. It can take less time than consequintal upgrade.

Hi Valentin,
Are you saying I should get a full backup of the existing solution. Intstall a brand new 7.2.7 version DCE on a virtual server. And then restore this solution on 7.2.7. Are we sure that if I can restore version 6.0.1.8 on 7.2.7? How can I make sure this works? My customer is not using operations. I dont think I can upgrade versions one by one.
Best regards

Kaan, you cant restore 6.0 backup on 7.2.7 server. Its not supported. If you need to save configuration and want to use virtual server, you need to upgrade hardware server version by version to 7.2.7. Than get a backup and restore it on virtual server. It is only way to keep config. If you cant upgrade one by one, you will need to configure system: discover devices, configure tresholds, policies and so on.

Also please remember that once you have restored to the new VM environment, you will need to engage your local APC support, to get the licences change over (assuming that the new environment is assigned a different MAC address).

Just to add, for upgrade, it will be 10 upgrades, pe below. As usual, do a full backup before attempting this. 6.0.1-->6.2.0 6.2.0-->6.3.0 6.3-->7.0.0 7.0.0-->7.2.0 7.2.0-->7.2.1 7.2.1-->7.2.2 7.2.2-->7.2.4 7.2.4-->7.2.5 7.2.5-->7.2.6 7.2.6-->7.2.7
