How to download Capture logs on Data Center Expert

The Capture logs from Data Center Expert contains multiple log files which are useful when troubleshooting issues on Data Center Expert.

To gather the log files browse to: https://DCEIPAddress/capturelogs

   Input user credentials.

When the page loads click on "Create Server Log Archive"

After the process is completed download the log files.

I've noticed after downloading the logs, it'll save with the .tar.gz format.is there a special program to open the log file?

Hi Luigimar Perez,

It is usual *nix standard of file archive, which easily opens, for example, 7-Zip file archiver under Windows.

With best regards.

What credentials are used to get to these logs.  All that tried in our shop have Admin rights and one is the System Admin that deployed the VM.  The link works fine to the capturelogs but can't get logged in.  Please advise.

Thanks

Dear Michael Ryan,

Can you show a screenshot of the error in the browser?

With respect.

No error, just goes back to blank login.

The reason I am trying to get to these logs, I am getting an error 500 on the webpage after about 10 minutes.  Other users are not getting this but I am on a rather complex dashboard.  3 tabs of Gadgets filling the screen.  Its been working great for months but now it happens on all browsers no matter where I login.  The only thing that changed was I added another user from LDAP that morning.  Not sure it wasn't doing this from before the long weekend.  This comment probably belongs in another thread, sorry.

...It's strange, but if the user has administrator rights of the DCE-server (check this in the DCE-client), then you must have full access.

Can you show from the DCE-client a screenshot of what privileges your user has?

With respect.

I apologize, I found the login that works for http:///capturelogs

It is the users under Server Administrators.  I only have one there, since it is a local user and not LDAP.  I will follow up with the error 500 under another thread.  Thanks...
