The fastest the gadget itself can update is once every 30 seconds as per the refresh interval when creating or editing the gadget:
Please note that this will only update to what DCE has listed for the current temperature. If the device being monitored is only being polled once every 5 minutes, the sensor value and in turn, the gadget, will still only update at most, once every 5 minutes.
I would like to also state that if you've got a lot of these gadgets, web pages open all the time, and many users accessing these pages, it can take a toll on performance of the DCE system. This is why the default for updating these sensors has been set to 5 minutes. If you end up with performance issues, this is one of the aspects of the system tech support may ask that you look at slowing down.
