I recently had a query from our capacity management team who receive a datafeed from Struxureware (DCO). They discovered 28 servers which were returning hostnames with question marks before or after the hostnames themselves. These obviously would not tally with the known devices in the comparative databases.
For example:
HOSTNAME?? or ?HOSTNAME
Where "hostname" represents the name of a particular server.
From luck and some faint memory we remembered that this was a DCO issue a long time ago that recognised that hidden spaces or returns could be included when text fields are pasted into the properties boxes perhaps from excel cells.
This was resolved before (I presume by some added code on a minor update) but the issue appears to have reappeared after our 8.2.2 update.
The 28 servers have since had their "hidden" spaces or returns removed but if more come in the future they will export with the spaces. Can this be resolved again?
