Energy Efficiency Problem

Hi

I have installed DCO 7.5.0 and i am trying to calculate the EE but getting error message "Critical distribution must be present, measured and connected to UPS or Switchgear" after getting this error message i have noticed that i can see only Switchgear, UPS and PDPM not racks under PDPMs.  kindly do let me know can i calculate EE on PDPM output level? and why i cant see any racks under PDPM however Rack PDUs are connected with PDPM modules.

Dear John,

I am sharing my comments on your query. I also let the other community experts to suggest on your issue.

I would suggest you to refer the following EcoStruxure IT Help Center tips page to set up the Energy Efficiency.

Tips for configuring Energy Efficiency

http://sxwhelpcenter.ecostruxureit.com/display/public/UADCO8x/StruxureWare+Data+Center+Operation%3A+...

The system needs a minimum energy system configuration to provide you with a calculated PUE/DCiE value. An energy system must at least include:

  • Switchgear
  • Energy Efficiency properties set on the switchgear and PDU
  • A PDU connected to the switchgear
  • A script configured on the PDU
  • IT load properties set to include measured calculation source
  • Derate Capacity must be >0

Please make sure that the Power Dependencies from Switchgear-->UPS->FMPDU/PDPM->Rack PDUs power path is completed.

The "IT load" is the sum of all the power that drives the IT equipment. Such as servers and network switches. It is an advantage that is is measured. This is usually done by summarizing the total output power of the measured rack pdu's or the measured branch circuit monitoring.

All scripts should output the power in kW.

You don't need estimated values if you have measurements on the devices. The only exception is the PDU's they need both. The reason for this is that it is used as the reference point between the model in Data Center Operation and the real world.

Energy Efficiency PUE calculation=Total Facility Power(KW)/IT Load(KW) But in Energy Efficiency is the facility power not one single measurement, but it is derived from the powerloss in the entire system.

Please make sure that the values such as Actual kW Nameplate, De-rate capacity & Typical PU (per unit) are configured as per the equipment type.

You may need to involve your country's Schneider Software DCIM support team to configure Energy Efficiency.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Bala

Thanks for your response, Actually i have done the same as you mentioned in your detailed reply, i have two 250 KW Symmetra (SY500K500DR-PD) and these two UPS's supplying to four PDPMs (PDPM277H) and PDPMs feeding to different rack PDUs. I have attached snapshot for your further understanding. after adding all the information i am getting PUE (Infinite) when i evaluate the EE. BR John
