Hi all,
I am busy trying to upgrade a DCE VM from v7.9.3 to v8.2.0. I created a Full Backup of the v7.9.3 VM to a remote Windows Share and I created a fresh install of v8.2.0 with the same Mac Address as the v7.9.3 VM.
I configured the same windows Share on the new DCE VM and the mount tested successfully however when I try to Restore a Backup, I cannot see the Backups stored on the Share Folder.
Please advise on how I can get the v7.9.3 Backup restored on the v8.2.0 VM.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Tafadzwa.

Hi @Tafadzwa,
You would just need to gracefully shut down the VM before adjusting the VM resources. Additional information can be found in our Help Center: https://community.se.com/t5/Data-Center-Expert-Virtual/About-changing-hardware-resource-settings-for...
Kind Regards,
Cory

Hello @Tafadzwa,
Data Center Expert backups can only be restored to the same version that they were created on unless otherwise noted. The upgrade process from 7.9.3 to 8.2 would need to be 7.9.3 > 8.0 > 8.1 > 8.1.1 > 8.2.0.
If the system needed to be redeployed for some reason, it would need to be redeployed on the same version that the backup was created on and then the restore done. The system would then should be able to go through the upgrade process as long as software support is in place.
There is no way to restore a backup from 7.9.3 onto 8.2.0. It must be a redeploy on the same version > bring in a backup > upgrade system incrementally to 8.2.0.
Kind Regards,
Cory

Hi @Cory_McDonald ,
Thank you for your prompt response.
It is much appreciated.
I also needed to change the CPU and Memory of the existing VM from 4 CPU to 8 CPU and 4GB to 8GB RAM. Can I do this on the existing VM without negatively affecting its functionality?
Regards,
Tafadzwa.
