DCO design branching and ETL DB integrations

Is this possible somehow to dedicate ETL DB for a certain part (or branch) of your DC model in DCO?

We are using DCO with ETL DB integration to ITSM system and I'm wondering if we could serve several instances of ITSM with a single DCO setup. The idea would be that we have one DCO that has ETL integration to e.g. ITSM development instance, test instance and/or acceptance test environment. In DCO, we would have a design in which we are having City1-dev, City1-test etc... as branches in DCO navigation window.

Could this kind of arrangement be possible?

Hi Jarno,

I think the team, offering customized solutions, might have experience with DCO-ITSM through ETL integration - specifications/details and price can be discussed with Lasse Simonsen (who is in direct contact with the CSP team).

Kind regards

Hi Jarno

In addition to Jef's response

its unclear from your post if you are using both the ETL DB/s and a transformation or just the ETL DB/s.  I hope I have understood correctly

I don't believe there is any way to tell DCO to export only selected room/s to the  Export DB and have multiple export DBs.

in any event it sounds like what you're proposing may deplete the benefits of having dev and test environments.  I am a firm believer that both should be as close as possible to prod but I understand sometimes string factors e.g. $$ may necessitate some difference.  Every difference increases risk that, what works in dev and/or test may fail in prod

can you explain why you want these differences?  What are you hoping to achieve?

Regards

Ed

Hello everyone

And thanks for the answers.

I'm trying to figure out if we could reduce the amount of DCIM instances (installations) since we need only test and production instances in DCIM point of view. However, we need to serve also other related systems such as ITSM and those systems are having full stack of dev, test, pre-production and production environments. The ultimate question is if we could serve e.g. ITSM dev, test and pre-prod. environments with a single DCIM test environment that would have design for each of the related environments.

For Ed Tarento's question about if we are using ETL DB/s and a transformation or just the ETL: just ETL DB.

Best regards Jarno
