Good day all
Quick observation and i hope there is assistance available.
I ran a simple U-space in DCO and the results did not seem correct and upon investigation i found that DCO counts the "blanking plates" as a device occupying a U-space, which renders the report incorrect.
In order for me to have a true reflection, i had to remove the blanking plates from the layout, save the changes then re-ran the report to get accurate U-space totals. Moving forward, given that blanking plates are necessary in terms of cooling the entire rack, are there any other methods or reporting methods that i can use to get accurate U-space totals?
please forward me a link if possible
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Kind regards

Dear Yusuf,
As far as I know, there is no need to place the blanking panel in DCO Racks layout as DCO by default considers the empty U space are filled with blanking panels. For this reason, there is no need to put the blanking panels in the Racks. This way the DCO will be able to provide the correct U-Space report.
I hope it helps.
Regards,
Bala

Thank you Bala for your speedy response
I am aware that if we remove the blanking panels we will have the correct totals, however, was told that best practice is to have the exact replica of our actual layout created in DCO.

I agree with you. However, there is no genome provided for blanking panel. I hope you might have had customized the blanking panel from any other genome properties. Thats the reason the DCO calculates it as the consumed U-Space if you place it in the Rack layout. There must be some reason on why the blanking panel is not provided in DCO genome. I let the other community experts to suggest on the same. Its not required to place/fill the empty U space(which is occupied by blanking panel physically) in DCO layout as it considers the empty U spaces are filled with blanking panels by default.

Hi Juice
Did you get your requirement met? I.e. retain your blanking panels but have the U space report recognise these as free? Or did you work around?
Cheers

Hello Yusuf
A new DCO U space report could be created (with StruxureWare Insight) that excludes your blanking panels

Thank you ED. We unfortunately do not have this module, however, I have removed the blanking plates from DCO to get an accurate number of U-space report.
Many thanks
