Hi
We have a network of APC 5500 UPS devices, currently we have fixed IP addresses in each UPS.
We run a virtual DCE server, and use the web client to monitor the devices.
Due to a network restructure we are looking to separate the network, this may require moving away from fixed IP addresses to a DHCP server.
When we add devices to the web client screen, it looks up a dot field extension from the IP address, ie(192.176.2.3 .bypassvoltage).
Does DHCP work in this case?
If we move the UPS IP address does this mean we need to generate our Web client interface again.
Regards,
Geoff

Hi Geoffrey Rooney,
As far as I know, in the DCE-server devices are determined by IP-address. Therefore, if after restructuring the network, the IP-addresses of your UPS's will not change (it does not matter, static or dynamic with MAC binding), then you do not need to change anything.
If the IP-addresses of your UPS's are changed, you will need to discover them again using the DCE-client. In this case, you will lose all previous historical information and in the web-client you will also need to configure everything again.
With respect.
