DCE: SNMP device not showing sensors

Hello support,

I need advice on a DCE installation that involves the integration of 3rd party SNMP devices.

We went through the process to develop the ddf (xml) for the snmp gateway (the device is a Genset) and insert the ddf to DCE with success, but when the device is added it only shows as "SNMP Device", without any sensor.

It looks like the device type is not being recognized.

The reference for the DDF development process was DDF-2233.

I thank you for any help on this matter.

Hi Rafael,

From the reference number DDF-2233, I can see that due to some reason a WALK could not be generated and it was agreed upon that we would be unable to test the DDF without the WALK file.

To debug this issue, we could go about it in the following way:

  • Provide a WALK file so that we can simulate it and find out what the issue could be.
  • Contact the device vendor and obtain the correct OID list. With this we can cross reference the DDF to check if the OID's used in the DDF are correct.

Regards,

Divya Shankar

Hi rafael.pereira,

Maybe my question will be simple, but I want to ask: Is your DDF-file for an SNMP-device or for a Modbus-device?

Maybe DDF-file is created for the Modbus-devices (Genset), which is connected to the DCE-server via Modbus TCP/IP gateway?

In this case, discovering the Modbus TCP/IP gateway only by its IP-address on the DCE-server as an SNMP-device will result in the result described by you, i.e. without any sensors. In this case, on your DCE-server, your Genset should be discovered as a Modbus-device, specifying the IP-address of the Modbus TCP/IP gateway and the SlaveID of your Genset.

With respect.

Hi Divya,

That comment was on DDF-2155 thread and was misplaced, as i informed some comments after that. The system that failed the SNMP walk was the air conditioner gateway treated on de DDF-2233. That one is subject to the other question I´ve opened yesterday (the one that is not being discovered by DCE).

For this one, the Genset Gateway, we got the SNMP Walk response. The device is already discovered by the DCE, but shows no sensors.

I´ll run another SNMP Walk, anyway, to update you.

Hello,

Thank you for the comment! No problem to review the basics in my POV.

But it´s indeed a SNMP DDF. The file itself is a xml that was successfully imported to DCE as a DDF for SNMP.

Best regards.

Hi rafael.pereira,

Thank you for understanding 😀. Just in my practice there have been numerous cases where people ordered a Modbus DDF-file, then successfully imported it into DCE-server. And then tried unsuccessfully to perform discovering of Modbus TCP/IP gateway as SNMP-device 😀.

Now regarding your question: I have several times seen similar problems, and I want to ask: after the discovery on DCE-server of your SNMP-device, it remains in online state or go to offline (in a minute or two)? Can show a screenshot of the discovered SNMP-device and its "sensors"?

Always glad to help.

Hi @spezialist,

I´ve just checked and the state remains "normal".

I couldn´t take the screenshot although.

Hi rafael.pereira,

And again, have you solved the problem or not?

With respect.

Hi spezialist,

Solved yesterday. It turned out to be a problem with the DDF. After the new were generated and imported the sensors showed up.
