Hi,
We use the DCE client with our Citrix VDI instance (running on Windows 2012).
This is a multi-tennant environment, where multiple users are using the DCE client with our DCE server backend. We know that the following issue is being introduced by using some form of personalisation and that whenever the client is used on a normal desktop this issue doesn't occur. However due to security policy only this VDI instance is allowed access to the DCE server.
The issue that we face is that the settings from the client aren't being saved. Whenever i logout and login again, all the user settings are gone. Which means that all the column settings, locale settings and so are lost after a logout.
Now i would like to face this issue with our VDI team, but they asked me where the settings from this client are saved or how they are saved.
Is there anyone with experience with the DCE client settings or the issue stated above?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Denzel

Dear Denzel van Vegchel,
...but they asked me where the settings from this client are saved or how they are saved.
That's right: in your multi-user environment this can be the case ☹️.
The fact is that DCE-client software stores its settings, as in the old days 😉, in a single file, for example, for DCE-7.4.3 under MS Windows along the path:
"C:\Program Files\StruxureWare Data Center Expert 7.4.3\dcexpert\configuration\config.ini"
or for MS Windows x64:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\StruxureWare Data Center Expert 7.4.3\dcexpert\configuration\config.ini"
But, on an generic PC, for example, I have MS Windows 10 x64, the above problem is not present, because modern MS Windows already know how to work with programs such as DCE-client. Therefore, modern MS Windows stores the settings for each user individually, rather than in the one above mentioned ini-file, which, as a rule, is read-only for users (that's why the settings are not saved and lost). For example, on my PC, my personal settings for DCE-7.4.3 are stored along the path:
"C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\StruxureWare Data Center Expert 7.4.3\dcexpert\configuration\config.ini"
or for MS Windows x64
"C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\StruxureWare Data Center Expert 7.4.3\dcexpert\configuration\config.ini"
More details about this can be found in numerous articles on the Microsoft website on the key phrase "VirtualStore".
With respect.
