After several months of success I can no longer mount a network share for DCE backups. The server does have GPO requiring NTLMv2 and 128 bit security. I am using 7.4.3.26 which gives me NTLMv2 as a protocol option.
I downloaded the logs as suggested in another thread. They show:
cifs_mount failed w/return code = -112
I have confirmed that the credentials specified are correct and that the user can access the share outside of DCE. In addition modifying the previously functional backup I have tried creating a new one.
Unable to find what return code -112 may be. Any assistance is appreciated.

pretty sure this is related to SMB v1 being disabled in microsoft server OS' recently. if this is the case, your only option is to find a server with smb v1 still enabled or use a NFS mount instead.
hopefully a fix on the DCE end will be available in a future release.

Good Call Andrew,
Ed, if you can verify they're using SMB2, I do have an enhancement request in the system and will add this post to the request.
Thanks,
Steve

Awesome. Thanks. I'm going to proceed with attempting an NFS mount until an update is available.

Yes I had read the other threads but saw no reference to the error return code I dug out of the logs. Hence my "fresh" query.

This is a question from the *nix world, which I will simply answer 😀. The DCE-server tries to mount your Windows resource using the mount command. According to Linux man page mount (8) this command has the following numbering of exit codes:
RETURN CODES
mount has the following return codes (the bits can be ORed):
0 success
1 incorrect invocation or permissions
2 system error (out of memory, cannot fork, no more loop devices)
4 internal mount bug
8 user interrupt
16 problems writing or locking /etc/mtab
32 mount failure
64 some mount succeeded
I.e., your mount return code -112 is a set of three errors:
112 = 64+32+16
Not very informative 😀, but to solve your problem with mounting NTLMv2 Windows resources, the DCE-server for the mount command should use the additional parameter -o sec=ntlmv2. But since the DCE-server is a closed black box, it remains only to wait for the developers to do this and publish a new DCE-release for customers.
Always glad to answer your questions.
