After each upgrade of DCE a new backup is created under the new version number, leaving the older backup versions in the backup location.
It would be nice if within DCE itself there was the ability to delete older backups when they are no longer required, rather than having to manage the backups outside of DCE.

Hi Richard,
I can enter an enhancement request with engineering for this but I do not believe we want to be responsible for deleting data on your remote server. This can not only be a liability but if there is something not quite right with the most recent backup, you may want to try loading a previous version. This can not be done if we've been deleting them.
Again, I can enter this as an enhancement request but I can not make any promises as to when or if it may make it into the product.

Steve, I don't want DCE to automatically delete backups but the admin of the DCE appliance should have the ability to manually select outdated backups and delete them from the backup share. The need to be able to perform this arises from multiple upgrades creating a new backup version each time and eventually filling the backup share and preventing the current backup from working. Maybe another option is to use a retention policy that the end use can set such as keep the last version only etc. Richard

Hi Richard, I'll add these comments to the request. I had created it using your initial comments. Again, I can not say when or even if it will be added to the product. Steve

+1 There needs to be rudimentary backup management within DCE.

Has any progress been made on implementing this? In DCO there is an option to keep only the last 30 days of backups, at least something similar in DCE would be good.
