Hello,
Unfortunately the migration to DCE 7.9 requires using version DCE 7.8.1 and 7.9.0, you cannot go from 7.8.0 to 7.9.2 directly.
You need to first upgrade DCE to 7.8.1, then deploy a new DCE 7.9.0 VM, if possible it is highly recommended, if not required, to use the same mac address from the old 7.8.0 server.
There is a complete 7.9.x migration guide here https://dcimsupport.ecostruxureit.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408917042577-Complete-upgrade-process-for-D...

Yes, DCE 7.9.x and higher can use SMB v2/v3, only DCE 7.8.1 and below requires SMB v1. Also when you go to restore your 7.8.1 backup on 7.9.0, make sure you change the security type to NTLMv2.
