Cooling simulation failure

Hello,

we have a design with hot aisle containment. The customer has realized that in the cooling simulation, selecting Velocity Plane, it seems that DCO 8.2.2 does not take the coantainment in mind when it makes the simulation.

In Temperature Plane, it does not happen:

And this is the layout in 2D:

Hi Javier,

Some time ago we had a similar discussion with our development team (and code reviewing), it turned out that this is working as designed.

To explain it we can look at a more simple setup, we have a room with one CACS and a downflow crac supplying the tiles inside the CACS. If the CACS outputs 13.000 m3 pr hour. that air needs to get out of the tiles and the leakage in the room. The leakage is default set to 30%, leaving 9100m3 for the tiles in the CACS. The air entering the CACS also need to leave the CACS to ensure we don't get an over-pressure in the CACS. The racks can only use a certain amount of air determined by the load in the rack multiplied with the cfm/kw property on the rack. The air not used by the racks needs to get out of the containment system through leakage, here we have 2 possibilities either through leakage in the roof or through the racks. Our implementation uses the roof.

Kind regards

Hi Jef,

but in this case we have a HACS instead of a CACS, so I think we should not have hot air entering the containment through the roof, should we?

Regards

Hi Javier,

Using the roof in implementation is similar both for HACS and CACS.

Kind regards
