Control of hysteresis for user-created threshold alarms in DCE: when?

Hi all!

I want to tell the DCE developers, who are present here, at what moments the DCE software very much is not pleasant to me ☹️.

As we use for monitoring the significant amount of not APC equipment, it was necessary to setup a quantity of user-created thershold alarms in DCE. But, as in rules, of these user-created threshold alarms there is no such concept as a hysteresis, it is necessary to use simply a time delay (Alert State for Time Threshold). But any engineer knows that this not same.

For example, at us, as a rule, Alert State for Time Threshold value is established 5...10 minutes. And here when, there is a multiple triggered of threshold value, we receive a large number of the alternating alarm messages about active alarm state, and then about alarm state termination. Only use of a hysteresis and anything else can help with such bad case.

Therefore I again ask a question: when in DCE includes an option to use a hysteresis for the user-created threshold alarms control?

For example, the free software Zabbix (it not advertizing) for monitoring initially has such option, and it very much is pleasant to me 😀. It relieves the personnel, which is engaged in monitoring, from the huge mass of the repeating messages and keeps time, nerves and money. That you won't tell about DCE software, which as you know costs much...

Very thanks for the support.

Hi spezialist!

I would propose you to:

  1. Try to review your threshold settings and make thresholds less precise in order to exclude unnecessary notifications.
  2. Try to use "Return To Normal Delay" threshold option.

Hi Valentin,

I already tried all this, and unfortunately, under our conditions, they don't solve above the specified problems at all. If time delays so simply solved all problems, I even wouldn't write this post here 😀.

Therefore, I also address to the DCE developers: it seems to me, this subject has to interest and interests very many users of DCE software and it needs to be solved after all.

Very thanks for the support.
