Change "no duplicates" from barcode to serial field

Greetings,

Is there a way to change the current "no duplicates allowed" field from barcode to serial? There are documents being created that are interfering with my ability to add lets say a service tag into the barcode field because in said form it is seen as a duplicate entry.

Out of curiosity can you share screen captures (mask sensitive info) illustrating how you are using this in DCO and displayed notification. what is the version of DCO?

In DCO Barcode(s) must be unique!
