Hi Dustin,

I'm not sure I understand the question. If I don't address it here, you may need to be a little more specific what you mean by "the SNMP string on a device".

StruxureWare doesn't normally do an SNMP write to a device although it can write itself in as a hidden trap receiver on an APC device. That's the only string it will write using SNMP.

StruxureWare can change settings or strings on an APC device using it's APC SNMP device configuration but that information is pushed to the device using FTP or SSH and not via SNMP.  Some settings that can be changed include things such as SNMP community name.

Thanks,

Steve

Steven Marchetti Thank you for your quick reply. Can StruxureWare only set or change SNMP strings on APC devices using the SNMP device config or can if to other vendors as well?

Hi Dustin,

No, the APC SNMP configuration option is for APC devices only. Since we don't know if all 3rd party devices have the FTP/SSH option for configuration and even if they did, how it would be configured, formatted, etc, we can only do APC devices. If you need to change SNMP strings on a 3rd party device (Community strings?), you will need to access those devices directly.
