Are cooling optimize licenses done per rack?

Yes, the cooling optimize licenses quantity is rack based and we recommend the number matches the number of ops/colo racks licenses. DCO does not enforce they match like it does for other licences (like ITO, Change, and Capacity).

The real use case for purchasing fewer cooling optimize rack licenses then the ops license count is when a customer has multiple rooms, and they are only deploying cooling optimize in one of the rooms.

So if you have a room with a 100 racks, and the cooling optimize related sensors are deployed on 50 racks in the room, the customer should still plan to purchase a 100 rack cooling optimize license. It’s about the coverage, not the physical racks on which the sensors are actually placed.
