Adding existing alarm thresholds to newly imported devices

I should preface by saying we are still on 7.8.1 for now

Maybe I'm going about this backwards but I do not see any way of adding custom-made alarm thresholds to newly imported UPS's. It seems like you have to re-create each alarm threshold for each device you import.

Of course I can right click --> create thresholds and have them apply to all objects in a directory, but is there no way to simply apply thresholds to individual UPS's without creating new ones?

Currently if I discover a new device it only gets the Communications Status threshold by default.

do you mind sharing the make/model of the UPS?  If it's an APC UPS, what is the network card firmware?  You're correct that you cannot create a template or copy existing threshold alarms from an existing device to a new device.  I'm pretty sure there is a feature request for this, but if not, one can be added.

However, there may be a better solution to this issue.
If it's an APC device, DCE should download an alarm ddf from the device that populates the device alarm tab (if you closed this, it can be opened from window->alarms->device alarms).  If the firmware is out of date or DCE is unable to download this alarm table, there will normally be an alarm that says "Device Status May be Incorrect.." https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA177004/

If it's a 3rd party device, it may be possible to have the DDF updated to include alarms already in the snmp mib/register map.  It's also possible that a different DDF is needed.  You can check the DDF repository here https://ddf.ecostruxureit.com/ or submit a DDF request here: https://app.ecostruxureit.com/request

We actually have very few APCs deployed currently but hope to move to an all APC environment eventually. Currently we use a mixture of mostly Vertivs, older Tripplite and Eaton devices.

I have reached out to the Ecostruxure team and they said we were using the latest available DDF for Vertiv devices.

Do you know if this is a feature that is available in a newer version? We plan to upgrade.... "eventually". Or could you provide more info on how to submit feature requests?

Now that I think about it though you might be on to something, the APCs that we do have I don't think we had to configure any thresholds for. Like one of our Symmetra 40K's (fw 6.8.2) already had temp alarms, battery status, etc. configured.

Is it possible the Vertiv / liebert DDF still needs to be updated, even though I was told it appears to be up-to-date already?

This feature currently isn't available in your version or the latest 8.0.0.  There is a similar feature request for this already.  You can submit feature requests on this forum, via this support request page https://app.ecostruxureit.com/request, or via phone, chat, support https://www.apc.com/us/en/support/

In general, there is a single Liebert DDF that covers a large majority of liebert/vertiv products that ships with DCE.  Current version is 69 and available on our DDF page as just "Liebert".  I would recommend double checking the device alarms page for this device since if it's using that DDF, it should be populated.

Is it possible the Vertiv / liebert DDF still needs to be updated, even though I was told it appears to be up-to-date already?
If you submitted a DDF request with an snmp walk/vendor snmp mib and the DDF team responded that you're using the latest DDF, then I would assume it's up to date.
