Hi Chu Li,
I think basically sever performance can depend on it's hardware specs and the running jobs/tasks - for the recommended system specifications, please see the following page : System requirements
Both stand-alone and cluster version should support a direct upgrade (from 8.x to currently 8.1), but in some cases if needed a clean installation followed by restoring the latest backup file could be used as a work-around. However, during an upgrade process (both for stand-alone and cluster) system would be unavailable (so there would be a downtime period), so it would be a good practice to inform the users before planning/starting the product upgrade.
Kind regards

Hi Chu Li,
You are welcome - that's correct, in general during an upgrade process (from one version to next version) DCO would be unavailable, so you can call this as a downtime period (about 1hr or so). thanks.
Kind regards

Hi Chu Li,
Upgrade instructions are available here: Getting from previous versions to DCO 8.x
Look for the section saying "Upgrading using the latest 8.x iso file",
"If you are upgrading a cluster environment, you only need to perform the upgrade on the slave node, not the master node. The upgrade takes up to about 20 minutes. You should not try to access or use StruxureWare Data Center Operation during the upgrade."
Kind regards
