7.4.3 still has duplicate "unplugged" sensors

Hi I have recently updated DCE to 7.4.3 and now the symmetra 160k  is showing duplicate and unplugged sensors!

I was under the impression 7.4.3 cured this issue can you please advise

TIA Mike

Hi Mike,

7.4.3 did correct most of the unplugged sensors but as you see in your image, some have not been corrected yet. I'm currently working on a few different cases where these same sensors are showing unplugged and I have added this thread to that listing of issues. When I hear more I will update this thread.

I have upgraded to 7.4.3 15 - 20 times and have had one instance where the duplicate sensors remained.

Can't 100% confirm this, but going from 7.3 or 7.4.0 to 743 seems to work every time.  As far as I know 7.4.0 effects DC rectifiers and I had none of them connect to DCE, so maybe that is why it work for 7.4.0.

On one occasion going from 742 to 743 failed to remove the unplugged sensors on a DCE server where the disk size was small and the data for the 'old unplugged' sensors no longer contained historical data.  I have not been able to replicate the issue again...

So it does looks like V7.4.3 might not be a 100% fix to the missing sensors issue.

Hi Gary,

The duplicate sensor wasn't there until I upgraded to 7.4.3 it has been running all latest FW as soon as they were released. it was the upgrade that caused it 😀

Hi team,

The similar issue I encounter recently. I have lately installed DCE 7.4.3 and now the NB250 is showing duplicated and unplugged sensors. And the NB250 web site shows 20 connected(this NB250 connected 20 sensors). Can you please advise?

Best Regards!

Hi Zhang,

This is likely a different issue. From the fact that this is a 250 to the fact that it is wireless sensors seeming to be duplicated, I'm guessing that the device had comm issues with it's sensors and you removed them and re-added them on the 250. If that is the case, They would potentially be seen as new sensors in DCE. In either case you'd need to delete the duplicates that are shown as unplugged.

Hi mike sutton,

Garry Priestland is really right, i.e.:

So it does looks like V7.4.3 might not be a 100% fix to the missing sensors issue.

For example, in my case, the following happened:

  1. Having version of DCE-7.4.1, at the end of December 2016 I updated the firmware of a lot of NMC2 cards in the UPS to version 6.4.6. I remembered: according to the recommendations of FA303882 I updated the DDF-file core.xml in DCE-7.4.1.
  2. After the above procedure in DCE-7.4.1, some sensors switched to the "Unplugged" state, i.e. the history of them ended at the end of December 2016.
  3. In place of the above "Unplugged" sensors in the DCE-server, new sensors appeared, the history of which began from the end of December 2016.
  4. The above "Unplugged" sensors I deleted in the DCE-client in the usual way that they were not visible.
  5. At the end of January 2017 I upgraded the server to version DCE-7.4.2.
  6. At the end of April 2017, I upgraded the server to DCE-7.4.3, and again, some sensors switched to the "Unplugged" state, i.e. the history of them ended at the end of April 2017 (I remind you, it began at the end of December 2016).
  7. And those sensors that were previously in the "Unplugged"state and which I deleted at the 4th step, again appeared and the history of them continued from the end of April 2017.

As a result, I have two duplicate sensors on the DCE-server:

  • online sensors with a lack of history in the interval from the end of December 2016 to the end of April 2017;
  • "Unplugged" sensors with a history only in the period from the end of December 2016 to the end of April 2017.

With best regards.

Hi Mike,

I've got word from engineering that although most values have been corrected, some of the power values, especially on 3 phase units, were unable to be automatically corrected. These are the values you're seeing here.

The values had one ID initially, then due to an intermediate update, the IDs were changed to make the sensors report unplugged.

7.4.3 brought the sensors all back to their original IDs. In some cases as you see here, they were not able to bring all of the data back to the original ID so they could not delete the unplugged sensor. If you had started at the intermediate version, you would have only seen the last change.

At this time, the only thing to be done is to leave the sensors as they are to maintain historical data. If you're not concerned with historical data, you can simply delete the unplugged sensor.
