STBNIP2212 Remote I/O

What is the deal with the STBNIP2212 Module. Why do you need Windows 7 and an old version of Java to be able to set the I.P address.. I've had the worst experience with these modules. I'll be able address one and the next one I pick up won't work. You can ping it but it won't connect. or it will connect but won't take the I.P address. I have experienced trouble with at least 20 modules and I feel like the technology hasn't changed since 2003.

When can we expect a better interface to Set the I.P address on the STBNIP2212?
