[Imported] Mimics always On top and block reopening

This is a re-posting from the obsoleted (October 2018) "Schneider Electric Telemetry & SCADA" forum.

---------------------

**_janavax:_**
**_I´m designing some mimics on a template to implement a control popup windows, a small window to issue control to I/O points. The popup windows is being opened from as an "inset"._**

**_After finish my desing I note that he Mimic can be reopened as many times I wish and this windows can be hide by another emerging window._**

**_We need to set on the popup (mimic) to have the behaviour of a "modal windows", so this popup is always on top and not other action can be done until this window is closed (like dialog window)._**

-------------------

Gissit:
This is one of the very few issues I have had with CS. I use inset mimics as faceplates (or control windows) too as they seem almost ideal but as you say there needs to be more facilities to control thier behaviour.

I have long wished there was an ability to prevent multiple instances of the same mimic being displayed, an ability to prevent re-sizing of inset mimics by dragging, an ability to remove the min/max/close control 'buttons' at the top right, an ability to define the mimic as 'application modal' and finally a way to define the text displayed in the title bar of the mimic to make it more useful.

If your faceplate is simple you might be able to achive this using scripting and forms instead of inset mimics, this is not really an option for me because my faceplates contain graphic objects and not just controls.

----------------

PWPara:
Hi all,

I know this is an old topic, however its fundamental issues appear many times in this forum.

I have this same problem today - Not being able to control behaviour of open inset mimics. We are 7 or 8 years down the track and no enhancement around this at all.

Can development please look at suggestions made in the previous post with the most important (to me) being:

1. True Modal Functionality

2. Ability to remove the inherent min/max/close buttons at top right (or provide override function for at least on close)

I have currently implemented 1. using a registry setting but MDI capability breaks this otherwise it works well.

I cannot achieve 2 - so this breaks the feature in 1 if a user clicks the top RH "X".

I have sent support an email for this feature request also.

Thanks

JesseChamberlain:
I've replied to PWPara separately, but PDEV-457 and PDEV-502 are the enhancement requests to ask support to vote for, when anyone else comes across this.
