[Imported] ClearSCADA User Ideas

This is a re-posting from the obsoleted (October 2018) "Schneider Electric Telemetry & SCADA" forum.

**_nminchin:_**
**_Is there any online repository that users can add their ideas to in order to improve ClearSCADA for future releases? Or are we purely at the mercy of what Schneider thinks we need?_**

**_As an example, Ignition SCADA has this and it works extremely well. In every new update, a collection of users' ideas for functionality are incorporated into the release._**

**_My first suggestion would be to stop the database tree from having a seizure and losing your current database tree view every time you add a new object... (CS EDIT: 2017R2)_**

-----------

CSUser:
CS2018? Where did u get a hold of that?!?! Current release is CS2017R2.

No voting location but you can call your suggestion in to support. I think they complie suggestions with how many users asking for the enhancement.

Maybe we can get a confirmation from one of the support members.

**_Whoops, yes, it's version 2017R2._**

**_I figured ideas could be sent into support, but that gives no visibility to other users. Maybe I'll raise it as an idea to support and hopefully get the ball rolling!_**

Hi Nick,

thanks for your comments, and the email to support. We do appreciate feedback. When we see new ideas in this forum or through the support team we usually add them to our internal support database as a potential development. These have a voting system too, so we can increase the vote count when we get more requesters.

Perhaps we could create a section of these forums dedicated to these ideas. The volume of comments would be an indication of where to focus. What do you think?

Best regards, Steve.

A Seizure is a good description. At least there have been some improvements to the tree, for me at least 2014R1.1 behaved much worse.

Sounds good to me and then from the forum we can see when one has been implemented. I sometimes miss when new minor things are added.

It'd be nice for ViewX to display the dimensions of objects in the statusbar as well, without having to do mental arithmetic on 3-7 figure numbers without thousands separators.

**_This probably isn't monitored, but..._**

**_It would be good if the SDE export tool would pre-fill the filename with the fullname of the object you're exporting. This would save a lot of time (especially when you're exporting 350 objects)_**
