Hi,
I’ve been away from GeoSCADA for a while and recently started refreshing and upgrading my knowledge. I’m currently working on connecting the TIA Portal to GeoSCADA and have found that OPC UA appears to be the primary method for integration.
Within GeoSCADA, I’ve noticed there are four different types of OPC connections, and I’m unsure whether I should be using OPC UA or OPC Simple. Additionally, I’m unclear on how to properly define a "Server" and a "Scanner" in this context.
Could you provide some guidance on how to configure these components within GeoSCADA? Also, are there any considerations I should be aware of on the Kepware side?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,

Having the TIA Portal PLC (you haven't mentioned which PLC you're actually using) as an OPC-UA Server, and then having GeoSCADA Expert as the OPC-UA Client reading the tags from the PLC (Server) is the way that I would suggest here.
You would want to reference the help for creating OPC-UA Client connections.

Press F1 for help, max the window, look at the left hand tree for Driver Reference / OPC UA Driver.
