Issue
What security levels are available in Vista?
Product Line
TAC Vista
Environment
- TAC Vista Workstation
- User Administration
Cause
Different security levels can be set for different users to administrate what they can and cannot see or modify.
Resolution
Low security
Low security is intended for TAC Vista systems not using a Windows NT/2k network. You usually log in as a TAC Vista user. Users from a Windows NT/2k network may be used at this level of security.
High security
High security is intended for TAC Vista systems using a Win NT/2k Network.
To set up a high security account in Vista:
- The user logs in as a user in a Win NT/2k network. TAC Vista users are not at this level of security.
- The user is verified by a domain controller in the Win network.
- To be able to log into the Vista system a Win NT/2k account must be defined in TAC Vista for each user/group who are authorized to access the TAC Vista system. When logging in the user is identified by TAC Vista via the domain controller in the Win network.
