Issue

Process to Move I/NET system from one machine to another so that all configuration settings remain the same.

Environment

I/NET

Cause

When copying an I/NET system from one machine to another, one must ensure that all configuration data remains the same.  This data is not all stored within an SQL back up, so additional steps are required.

Resolution

Back up original PC

 -  Back up the Database

  1. Open I/NET DbCreate Application
  2. Select Verify Db. 
  3. Press Start, Ensure there are no errors
  4. Select Backup
  5. Press Start,
  6. Save the file to an external drive

 -  Back up the Graphics Files

  1. Note the exact folder path for I/NET Graphics (example: C:\Inet Seven Data\Graphics)
  2. Copy all Graphics files to an external drive

 -  Back up the I/NET Host Configuration (I/NET must be shut down)

  1. Open the registry editor (Start - Run - regedit)
  2. Expand the HKEY_Local_Machine Folder
  3. Expand the SOFTWARE folder
  4. Expand the CSI - Control Systems International folder
  5. Expand the I/Net 200 Folder
  6. Expand the Configurations Folder
  7. Right click on the active configuration profile and select Export
  8. Save this to an external drive

 -  Back up the AMT Configuration (I/NET must be shut down)

  1. Open the registry editor (Start - Run - regedit)
  2. Expand the HKEY_Local_Machine Folder
  3. Expand the SOFTWARE folder
  4. Expand the CSI - Control Systems International folder
  5. Expand the I/Net 200 Folder
  6. Right Click on the Host Configuration folder and select Export
  7. Save this to an external Drive

Restore to new PC

Install I/NET onto the new PC

 -  Restore the Database

  1. Open I/NET DbCreate Application
  2. Select Restore
  3. Press Start
  4. Choose the file created during the backup process
  5. Close DbCreate

 -  Restore the Graphics Files

  1. Create the exact folder path for I/NET Graphics used on the previous machine (example: C:\Inet Seven Data\Graphics)
  2. Copy all Graphics files to this new location.

 -  Restore the I/NET Host Configuration (I/NET must be shut down)

  1. Copy the file created during the backup process to the new machine
  2. Double click on this file to restore registry settings

 -  Back up the AMT Configuration (I/NET must be shut down)

  1. Copy the file created during the backup process to the new machine
  2. Double click on this file to restore registry settings
