In Tree Tech 3.1, when starting communications, a failure occurs preventing proper initialization of communication sub-subsystems: "Windows cannot find 'CDECHICO.EXE'

Issue

When starting communications, a failure occurs generating the errors illustrated below:

Windows cannot find 'CDECHICO.EXE'.  make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.  To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

Environment

Tree Tech 3.1

Cause

The "Connection Type" for a network in the E: EQUIPMENT DATABASE was assigned as "ARTIC ECHELON".

This connection type was used for a communication interface card that was obsoleted many years ago.  It was used with IBM's motherboards using MicroChannel expansion sockets.

Resolution

Click on the down-arrow and select a different connection type.  The two most-common are:  Ethernet and Serial.
