From a legal Microsoft Licensing point of view, it is important to be clear how many Client Access Licenses (CALs) are required when using a Report Server with SQL in EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO).

Cause
While Microsoft Client Access Licenses are not required to make a Report Server installation function, ANY system which makes use of Microsoft SQL must consider the provision of sufficient purchased CALs to remain legally compliant and avoid potential fines.
Resolution
The Report Server Reporting Agent Service which is responsible for reading the data from the Enterprise Server (ES) and storing it the Microsoft SQL Server Database, will use one connection to the SQL Server. and therefore, requires one CAL.
